On September 12, the Rotary Club of Bali Lovina cooperated with Coca Cola and Reef Check and arranged training for teachers. The aim was to teach students how to take care of garbage and re-cycling. This was the third part out of six in 2009 for the project Keep Clean.

Teachers from SD Negeri 1 Kaliasem, SD Negeri 2 Kaliasem ,and Tejakula village participated.

It was held at a Meditation Center Penirtaan, close to a garbage separation station in Kaliasem owned by Bapak Made Utama Jaya also owner from Khi Khi Restaurant in Lovina. It started at 8.00 am and ended 15.30 am.

The subject of the presentations was organic, non organic and poisonous waste. The training included practice re-cycling of paper, and composting organic waste. Books and posters were donated by Ibu Tiwi from Clean Bali Series (CBS).

Two presenters were Ibu Catur Yudha Hariani and Herni Frilia Hastuti who are from “Pusat Pendidikan Lingkungan Hidup Bali ( PPLH_Bali ).The teachers were taught how to use games to make the students interested in the subject. By drawing a map of land and water with villages, hotels, paddies, boats and so on they were discussing what kind of garbage came out into the water. At the end of the day they were discussing the specific problems in their area by drawing pictures.

The training was very successful and the teachers were more than satisfied. They asked that the training be continued regularly.
