Naneng setiasih, director of Reef Check with P RobbieThe Rotary Club of Bali Lovina (RCBL) Waste Management project took off about 1 year ago. The project runs in cooperation with The Coca Cola Company and the Reef Check organzation.

The first three years are planned for setting up a pilot project in the Lovina area. One village will work hand in hand with the Rotary Club of Bali Lovina to establish a adequate garbage management program. This wiil take care of cleanup projects and creating awareness of the need for cleaning up beaches, rivers and streets by picking up rubbish and recycling it. The way it looks now the first village we will work with will be Kaliasem.

Getting read for the diveThis cleanup in partnership with Reef Check and sponsored by Coca Cola focussed on Kalibukbuk and included a team of divers cleaning the reef as well as hte beach cleanup.
We also thank Malibu Dive Center, Sunrise Dive Center, Wisnu Dive Center, Agung Mas, Trendy, Biyu Nasak Gallery, Bakery Lovina and Spice Dive for their support.

class-photo2-hasanuddinFollowing on from yesterday's training at SDN 1, Kaliasem, this was another joint effort with Coca Cola as a sponsor, Reef Check providing trainers, and our Waste Management Project (Rtns Summy & Sollan) making the arrangments with the school and providing resources. The school for October 10 was Sekolah Dasar MI Hasanuddin, Kaliasem, Lovina. This is the same school that helped with the Beach Cleanup in August.

One Class at the BeginningThis was a joint effort with Coca Cola as a sponsor, Reef Check providing trainers, and our Waste Management Project (Rtns Summy & Sollan) making all the arrangments with the school and providing resources. The school on October 9 was Sekolar Dasar Negeri 1 in Kaliasem, Lovina. Grades 4, 5, and 6 (101 students in all) particpated moving between posts where

  1. the basics of trash were introduced via a short movies
  2. composting theory was explainedusing practical demonstrations
  3. concepts were re-inforced with mind games, story telling and brain storming
Then there was time to visit the Eco Mobile and finally receive some refreshments.
