Weight Scales handed over in Tukadmungga PDF Print E-mail

Archie, Hans, Bapak  I Nyoman Putra  and KomangBack in June  our  Club made a visit to Kelompak Tani Ternak Sapi , a  waste composting and recycling project in  Tukadmungga.  

Today,  three members  of  our  Rotary Club’s Waste Management &  Environment Committee delivered weight scales  to the Tukadmungga  site.

 

Bapak  I Nyoman Putra was the happy  recipient.   Hans, Archie and Komang  from the Club  were present for the delivery.

Beach Cleanup to celebrate Earth Day 2011 PDF Print E-mail

Smiles at Beach Clean-up at AnturanTo celebrate Earth Day 2011, Rotary Club of Bali Lovina organized a beach cleanup in Desa Anturan. Eighty students from three of the village’s elementary schools joined in (they were from SDs 1,2 and 3) as well as students from MAPINDO and SMA 1 Singaraja (Sispala).

 

Teachers, Desa officals, and a delegation from the Police Department helped. The Kepala Desa, Mr. Kadek Suratnja gave a motivational opening speech that stressed the importance of a clean environment and explained how we should all work towards this goal. There was applause and then everyone sang the National anthem.

”Clean up Lovina” project

Date: March 22, 2010

Present: Hans, Sumy and Sollan

  1. The holders are finished. Sumy contacts the Kepala Desa. Sumy arranges 2 persons to put them on place.
  2. Hans has made 2 samples of stickers for the garbage bins which he will show on next meeting.
  3. Nothing has come out from Kepala Desa’s letter to the government applying for the land for “waste management”
  4. Sumy calls Reef Check. They contact Hans for a meeting. The purpose is to match their programs with ours and make a question formula for the teachers being involved in last year’s activities.
  5. The program for this year will be:
    • to make a Power point presentation “pictures talk” about the garbage situation and what have been changed during the year.
    • to visit the teachers and schools with our formula and do follow up every 3 months if result is not satisfactory.
    • to contact hotels and restaurants for support for Hassan’s separating and re-cycling of garbage.
    • to rice 45 000 000 Rupiah to buy land for the “waste management”.
  6. Hans will make a list of issues to be talked about together with Reef Check.
  7. Sumy gives Hans her pictures. Hans and Archie make new on the same places, to make it possible to see if any change could be seen.

Naneng setiasih, director of Reef Check with P RobbieThe Rotary Club of Bali Lovina (RCBL) Waste Management project took off about 1 year ago. The project runs in cooperation with The Coca Cola Company and the Reef Check organzation.

The first three years are planned for setting up a pilot project in the Lovina area. One village will work hand in hand with the Rotary Club of Bali Lovina to establish a adequate garbage management program. This wiil take care of cleanup projects and creating awareness of the need for cleaning up beaches, rivers and streets by picking up rubbish and recycling it. The way it looks now the first village we will work with will be Kaliasem.
