Learning the Signs

On Saturday October 10, our Club initiated a “road awareness campaign” aimed at children age 4-14.

It took place in a local school (Window to the World) and was such a success with the children that we are now looking to hold additional sessions in other schools.

The children gathered together and made a zebra crossing, road signs and different vehicles before they watched a slide show and got an informational talk from Police Constable Pak Made.

Getting ready for traffic in the Demo

Pak Made explained to the children how important it is to stick to the traffic rules, and advised the children to remind their parents at all times to:

  • Make sure all people on the motorbike (children too) should always wear a helmet
  • Not let children drive motorbikes under the age of 16
  • Never cross the traffic light when it is “red”
  • Drive on the left side of the road, also when crossing streets
  • Slow down for zebra crossings
  • And always carry your driver's license

After Pak Made’s talk the children played games and learned how to cross the road safely.

The next Road safety awareness campaign will be for senior high school students and will be held at the “Bali Study Club” , Kalibubuk, on Saturday the 24th of October.
