Made-Sollan-Lynda-IMG_8792Made from Kailbukbuk (sometimes known as Ketut) lives in the same street as our Sergeant at Arms, Sollan. He has been a boat captain for 25 years now so has plenty of experience. His wife also works with tourists along the beach, and he has 3 children now at high school.

His father helped him get started 25 years ago - he not only needed a boat, but had to pay to join the Organisation of Kalibukbuk boat captains which operates like a cooperative or trade union. He gets customers by meeting people on the beach or in the streets, and also by having satisfied customers referring their friends.

Iskandar NugrahaIskandar has also been involved in a number of Indonesian language projects in Australia, working as an interpreter and translating for both radio and television. His pocket book, Essential Indonesian Phrasebook, was published by Periplus Singapore in 2002. Recently Iskandarworked with IHPCP (an AusAid HIV/AIDS project) as a Provincial Adviser for Sexual Transmission and Gender in the Indonesian province of Papua, where he helped produce multi-media productions for sexual health promotion using the local languages.

For his talk he used the title "Edutainment Program for HIV Prevention in Papua" - meaning that the education program had to be entertaining if it was to succeed.

Komang Sarira from Yayasan Bali SejahteraKomang Sarira returned to the Rotary Club of Bali Lovina to update us with details of “Yayasan Bali Sejahtera”, a foundation set up to help disabled people to learn life skills.

He thanked our Club for a donation that helped start up a library.

He reminded us of the Vision, Mission, and Programs that he had told us about last time he visited as a speaker on March 11 this year.
