Beatte and NyomanThe guest speakers today are Nyoman Tirtawan and Beatte Dotterweich who own the Warung Bambu in Pemaron, the Villa Manuk and PT Mahanara Bali (travel).  Their topic is ‘Waste water treatments for private houses and small businesses’
Beatte is originally from Germany and her husband Nyoman from the Manuk area, North Bali. They are married with two children, a daughter and a son.

They have been running the very popular Warung Bambu in Pemaron, (one of the only places in the area where authentic Balinese food is served) for many years now.

Beatte Dotterweich speakingBeatte and NyomanNyoman Tirtawan speaking have always been very concerned about environmental issues. They have been working on waste management projects in the Lovina area long before anybody else got involved. For the last couple of years they have also run the eco-lodge, ‘Villa Manuk’, and Beatte has been one of the people behind the starting up of the ‘North Bali Perma culture group’.

Nyoman and Beatte are very knowledgeable on various topics concerning environmental issues and solutions from hands on experience as well as academic studies. Beatte has been a speaker to the Rotary Club in Lovina before, then talking about ‘sapu lidi’ the waste management organization she and her husband set up to address the garbage problem in the Pemaron area.  They aim to encourage people to think about what happens with their waste water. What can be done to minimize the negative impact on the environment? They described some solutions which are cheap and easy to realize and reduce even the usage of water for watering your garden plants.
