Gede Sentana talking to our clubConchita introduced Gede by saying thaat she met him a number of times, finding out a little more each time, then writing for Lovina Pages etc. So who is he? -  he is a tour leader who has studied economics in Singaraja, then Dutch Culture at a University in Jakarta.  This enabled him to become a tour leader often working with Dutch guests.

Gede thanked Conchita and said that he was thankful for his education that had enabled him to get good emplyoment. But he saw that many of the kids going through high school in Pemuteran finished without any skills with English or with computers, so were not well placed to get the better jobs linked with tourism – and often were only getting the lesser jobs like security and gardening.

Gede Sentana at lunch with our clubSo he was keen to provide some help. Then he met Ines Ehmer who was supportive but insisted that he needed to form a Yayasan (Foundation). So this led to the formation of the Dharma Sentana Foundation which is now able to provide teaching of dance, music, English language and computer skills. The kid come each day at 3pm after they have finishe their normal school work. Now they have about 45 kids aged from 6 to 16.

In the discussion time, members asked a number of questions about the foundation and about the West Bali National Park.
