DG Al Purwa, Marina, First Lady, Ray Kliningsmith and Rob rc Enkhuizen.JPG for emailOn Tuesday November 23, 2010, our District Governor Al Purwa and his wife Marina hosted a dinner at the Hyatt hotel in Sanur.

Special guests of the evening were Rotary International President Ray Klinginsmith and his wife Judy.

Many Rotarians joined the event that was arranged around fellowship, good food and the opportunity to meet the President of our service Organzation.

Ray Kliningsmith speakingRC Legian and LovinaRay spoke briefly about his experiences during a former trip to our beautiful island, and stressed the importance of keeping up the fight for a polio free world. DG Al used the opportunity to explain to Ray Klinginsmith the challenges in running a district the size of Indonesia. Using a slide show Al spoke in depth about the positions of the clubs in our District, the means of transportation to reach them and the distances Rotarians have to travel for gatherings.

Question from our District leaders to Rotary International is if District 3400 could get the permission to be split up. This will require a special permission from Rotary International since District 3400 officially does not have enough Rotarians to make up for more than one District.

It is an interesting development for District 3400. The story is to be continued…..
